Photoelectrochemical mineralization of emerging contaminants at porous WO3 interfaces

Photoexcited WO3 is active in the degradation of pharmaceuticals in water. Bias application on photoexcited WO3 electrodes accelerate degradation kinetics. Photo-electrodegradation process passes through OH radicals formation. Prolonged irradiation allows complete mineralization of pharmaceuticals. Photo-electrocatalytic method works at pH 6 and with salinity of natural waters.
