Clytin-II (CL-II) is a Ca2+-binding photoprotein from the jellyfish Clytia gregaria.
CL-II is an isotype of CL-I with 23 different amino acids in 189 amino acid residues.
CL-II shows the highest initial luminescence intensity among photoproteins.
Amino acids responsible for high initial luminescence intensity were determined.
CL-I mutant substituted with four amino acids shows the similar properties to CL-II.
