Thermal stability of surface nanostructure produced by laser shock peening in a Ni-based superalloy

A nanocrystructure layer with the grain size of about 20 ~ 200 nm in a Ni-based superalloy was fabricated by means of laser shock peening (LSP). The thermal stability of surface nanostructure was investigated by in-situ TEM observation and nanoindentation. The results show that the nanostructure has a good thermal stability and then the stability mechanism was discussed in detail.
