We investigated the tool wear modes in turning of EBM, DMLS, heat treated DMLS and wrought Ti6Al4V alloys.

We tested both dry and cryogenic cooling conditions.

We quantified the adhesion wear by means of a 3D profiler.

Cryogenic cooling reduces the adhesion and abrasion wear.

No crater wear occurred when adopting the liquid nitrogen.
