A subbasin error metric quantifies the routing information loss from discretization. HRU error metrics based on spatial overlay with original spatial input data. Metrics assess hydrologic model input variable errors with no model run. Multi-site metric evaluation for distributed modeling offers new insights. Spatially non-uniform discretization decision-making better than uniform approach.
