The Cu2 + adsorption isotherms are satisfactorily described by the Langmuir equation. The organic matter is an important factor of the Cu2 + binding strength adsorption. The analysis was carried out by the near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure. The Cu2 + with humic acids forms the octahedral inner-sphere chelate complexes. Adsorbed Cu2 + displace some Al3 + ions in the octahedral positions of clay minerals.
