A new white-rot fungus, Ceriporia lacerata, from the decayed mulberry branches. The white-rot fungus had the ability to decolorize the azo dye Congo red. The decolorization mechanism relied on mycelia absorption and enzyme degradation. The incomplete transformation products also had toxicity to plants.
