The natural red clay, taua, can act as a photocatalyst in water decontamination with sunlight irradiation. TiO2/Taua composite has a higher photocatalytic activity than the individual components. The TiO2/α-Fe2O3 heterojunction is responsible for synergistic effect of the composite. Optimized conditions yield around 100% of methylene blue degradation in 180 min.
