Mass transfer rates of rotating meshes and flat discs in rotor–stator spinning disc reactors are presented.
Volumetric mass transfer coefficient is 5 times higher for the mesh than for the disc.
Virtually the same energy dissipation rates for rotating mesh and flat disc were measured.
No increase in power consumption for the rotating mesh compared to the flat disc at equal Reynolds number.
Results were fitted to Sherwood correlation and compared with available literature.
