A new multiple shear banding mechanism in metallic glasses is proposed. The mechanism reveals redistribution of stress field during shear band movement. New shear bands would form under a high magnitude of stress inhomogeneity. The simulated shear offset and shear band intersection consist well with experiments. The mechanism also explains the affections of loading conditions on MGs' plasticity.
