Magnetic properties of sediments from western and eastern tributaries of Shire River and Nkula Dam are analyzed. Lithology is the main reason for magnetic contrast between the two sides of the river. Nkula Dam receives more sediment from the western tributaries than the eastern. Magnetic method is promising approach in assessing fluvial sediment source.
