CT density of the L1 vertebral body is correlated with bone mineral density. There is good intra-observer agreement in measuring the L1 vertebral density. There is good inter-observer agreement in measuring the L1 vertebral density. L1 density could be used opportunistically to select patients for osteoporosis screening.
