We developed an analytical model to describe the overall behaviour of water targets for a medical cyclotron. The effects of major sub-processes such as phase change and radiolysis were taken into account in the model. Various behaviour of a water target at different initial conditions at the steady-state time scale were analyzed. Excellent agreement is observed between the model and the experimental observations.
