Novel strategy using crash tubes adaptor for damage levels manipulation and total weight reduction

The most important advantages of the proposed PEA strategy are as follows: PEA strategy improves the crashworthiness of the protected structure by lower damage under lower impact velocity and higher energy absorption under high impact velocity.Replacing existing vehicles absorbers by PEA adaptors manipulates the damage levels, and considering PEA roles in new crashworthy designs leads to redistribute and reduce the whole internal protected structure masses. Ascending style (AGI) represents the increase of GEA in a relatively sharp way as it increases the stiffness by adding tubes with larger radius outside. On the other hand, descending style (DGII) represents the increase of GEA in a relatively relax way as it increases the stiffness by adding tubes with smaller radius inside. Furthermore, increasing the interaction ratio leads to lower fluctuation and better absorption performance. Assembling and manufacturing of the nested tubes to build the PEA adaptor are simple and easy in implementation, thus PEA can be used inside various applications. The maximum outcomes of PEA strategy performance are achieved with the following recommendations: The protected structure includes several categories of internal parts (for example: SP, MP, and CP). Vehicles that have a wide range of variation corresponding to the expected applied kinetic energy at the emergency condition. The protected structure that has the ability to enlarge the absorber stroke length by small percentage. The cases that have the expectation of lower kinetic energy are most probably to be happened at accidents conditions are more recommender than other cases.
