PEO coatings on c.p. Ti and Ti6Al4V alloy reduce Ti4 + ions liberation into SBF. PEO-coated c.p. Ti is insignificantly affected by inflammatory artificial saliva. Al3 + and V5 + are incorporated into the coatings during PEO treatment of Ti6Al4V. Al3 + and V5 + are lixiviated into SBF during long- and short-term exposure in SBF.
