A levitating single bubble is monitored acoustically by an external piezo-ceramics. The filtered signal allows diagnostics on the bubble state: pure argon bubble, disappearance. A bubble in the SBSL state is perturbed by approaching a 7 μm diameter carbon fiber. The bubble becomes unstable when the ber tip comes up within 3–4 times its maximum radius. The bubble disappearance is acoustically detected with a delay of 4000 periods.
