Multilayer Cr/CrN, Ti/TiN, CrN/TiN coatings were deposited on Ti6Al4V alloy. Type of the interface influenced the growth mechanism and grain size. The changes of bi-layer period affected the grain size and mechanical properties in Cr/CrN coatings. Mechanical properties of CrN/TiN coatings were insensitive to changes of bi-layer period.
