Convectional flow induced by bacterial chemotaxis was observed in a capillary assay. Temporal changes in cell number and flow speed were analyzed quantitatively. The single convection observed is a variant of the well-known bioconvection. Enlarging the accumulated cell area accelerates the convectional flow. Increasing the accumulated cell area is crucial for inducing the observed convection.
