The Hashin-Shtrikman model underpredicts the moduli of ternary nanocomposites. The formation and characteristics of interphases are studied using the experimental results. The strong and thick interphases are weakened by increasing in clay content. Poor dispersion of nanofiller and low interfacial area/adhesion cause poor interphase.
