Colloidal AlPO-5 nanocrystals are prepared using new imidazolium-based template. The AlPO-5 formation and the effect of synthesis parameters are studied. The resulting nanocrystals have defined shapes and are sized 50–900 nm. Microwave synthesis on AlPO-5 nanocrystals is also studied. Microwave-synthesized AlPO-5 have higher porosity and water sorption properties.
