Novel dendrimer-like mesoporous silica nanoparticles are used as hard template. Resorcinol-formaldehyde nanocapsules containing many ultrasmall Au nanoparticles are created. Resorcinol-formaldehyde nanocapsules have unique rough inner surface. Porous hollow carbon nanospheres with many Au nanoparticles are fabricated. They exhibit high activity and stability in catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol.
