Persistent hypopituitarism can develop following neurosurgery for tumors distant to the HPA. Neuroendocrine dysfunction within the first year after radiotherapy treatment may represent the ongoing effects of neurosurgery. Neuroendocrine studies carried out at 1 year after radiotherapy may be more predictive of future endocrine dysfunction.
