An unexpected backward stimulated Raman scattering peak of the “free” OH radical was observed. The dissociation of H2O2 under the laser and proton transformation of H2O2(H2O)1−n clusters can generate “free” OH radical. The mechanism explains the increase of Raman scattering cross section of the “free” OH radical. The mechanism also solves the change of the frequency shift of the OH Raman band with the change of the concentration.
