Mesograzers can benefit their host macrophytes by selectively grazing on epiphytes. Cymadusa filosa and Sunamphitoe pelagica preferred and performed better on the host. Only C. filosa was able to feed and survive on epiphytes as well as on the host. These mesograzers may differ in the factors driving their association with the host. The role of epiphytes in the mesograzer-host interaction may vary among herbivores.
