We modeled the fate of S and Cu during decompression melting of peridotite. Hotter mantle produces higher FeO⁎FeO⁎ partial melts and consumes sulfide faster. Primitive MORBs are likely mixture of sulfide-undersaturated and -saturated melts. 100–200 ppm S in the mantle source can satisfy both S and Cu of primitive MORBs.
