Adaptive responses to osmotic stress in kidney-derived cell lines from Scatophagus argus, a euryhaline fish

A kidney-derived cell line (SK) of Scatophagus argus was developed.

A low-osmolarity-adapted SK cell line (SK-la) cultured in hypotonicity (150 mOsm).

Osmoregulation of SK, SK-la and CIK in medium (150, 300 and 450 mOsm) was studied.

Na-K-ATPase activities of SK, SK-la and CIK in anisotonicity were detected.

SK and SK-la showed stronger osmoregulatory capacity than CIK.
