Mercury levels in largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) from regulated and unregulated rivers

Bass from an unregulated river showed higher mercury than bass from a regulated river. Compound specific isotope analysis determined bass feed at similar trophic positions. Compound specific isotope analysis showed different food web structure in the rivers. Benthic-pelagic coupling was determined to be the proximate cause of higher mercury.
