It is a kind of self-calibration method, so no extra optical elements are needed. Waveplate is rotated to blind angles, no complex adjustment procedure or waveplate holder with high accuracy is needed. The effect of the phase shift error on calibration is avoided. The intersection angle error of the polarizer and analyzer is taken into consideration.
