Knockout of PBANKA_143950 possible only when a complementary CCHL gene is present. Knockout of PBANKA_0602600 possible only when a complementary CC1HL gene is present. Endogenous genes for heme synthesis enzymes UROD, PBGD, ALAS, FC are nonessential. Dihydroartemisinin and atovaquone sensitivity is unaffected in the FC knockout.
