Rows of tea trees conserved much more soil water than the rubber tree rows. Rubber trees absorbed soil water evenly from each row along the slope. Plants have complementary water use patterns in a rubber-tea agroforestry system. Soil water can be redistributed well underground in this agroforestry system.
