MP pollution determined in the sediments along the Strait of Hormuz. Sites included industrial and urban areas, and a marine protected area. MPs found at all sites. Abundance related to proximity of anthropogenic activities. Fibers were the dominant MP type (83%). PE, nylon and PET were identified by FT-IR. Sources may include discarded fishing gear and outflows containing clothing fibers.
