Sulfonated polysulfone thin film membranes were prepared by solvent-free melt extrusion. Melt extrusion in this study did not change the chemical structures and compositions of the extruded BPS/PEG films. Some melt processed BPS/PEG films were opaque due to surface roughness. The factors leading to film opacity such as phase separation, crystallization and micro-voids were not found.
