Galectin-3 can potentially hinder lupus nephritis reducing autoantigen availability. Galectin-3 can modulate pan-organ inflammatory, healing and fibrotic responses. Galectin-3 is involved in NF-kβ, Wnt, TGF-β, Leptin and Aldosterone pathways. Galectin-3 may link renal, cardiovascular and metabolic disease. Galectin-3 contributes to renal cell homeostasis, polarization and regeneration.
