ASD is influenced by a variety of genetic, environmental, and possibly immunological factors. Previous study have reported an association between two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the OXTR related to the occurrence of ASD. OXTR polymorphisms, cesarean section, prenatal folic acid use, low birth weight and preterm birth have increased the risk of developing ASD.
