Syntheses, crystal structures and DNA-binding studies of Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes bearing asymmetrical aroylhydrazone ligand

Three new compounds based on asymmetrical aroylhydrazones have been isolated and characterized. Thermal analysis, UV-vis absorption and X-ray single crystal analysis of complexes 1, 2 and 3 have been studied. The DNA binding affinity of complexes lies in the order 3 > 2 > 1. The chelating ligands have an important influence on DNA binding mode.
