The power efficiency of a SOA-based IR-UWB over fiber system is investigated.
SOA nonlinearities are mitigated by tuning some key parameters of the pulse shape at the transmitter.
A new pulse shape is proposed so as to achieve a high power efficiency while respecting the standard FCC spectral mask.
The question of the power efficiency is investigated in presence of OOK/PPM modulation schemes.
By combining SOA inline amplification and pre-distortion a highly power efficient system is designed.
