Knowledge of benthic suspension feeder recruitment is essential for management. Artificial substrate was used to estimate recruitment of two introduced species. Reciprocal facilitation was important for zebra mussel and bay barnacle recruitment. Recruitment is subject to microhabitat segregation based on surface orientation.
