Manipulating the H2/CO ratio from dry reforming of simulated mixed waste plastics by the addition of steam

High yield H2 & CO rich syngas was produced via CO2 reforming of mixed plastics. Ni-Co/Al2O3 and Ni-Mg/Al2O3 catalysts and different CO2/steam ratios were studied. With steam, Ni-Mg/Al2O3 promoted H2 production Ni-Co/Al2O3 promoted CO production. Addition of steam to dry reforming of plastics manipulates the H2/CO molar ratio. Syngas H2/CO molar ratio can be matched to the desired end-use industrial application.
