The theory of resilience contributes to understanding the changes in landscapes. Adoption of the resilience approach at landscape level can maintain and enhance secure delivery of ecosystem services. Building the resilience of landscapes contributes to biodiversity conservation, agricultural production and sustainable livelihoods. Assessment of landscape resilience provides a pathway towards developing landscape conservation and management strategies. Resilience assessment indicators are strategic tools to evaluate changes in landscape systems.
