Homoiterons like GGGGGGG stabilize ribosomal RNAs of thermophile prokaryotes.
In eukaryotes, homoiterons are much more abundant in RNA of the larger subunit (LSU).
The LSU repeats increase with phylogenetic rank to 28% entire RNA sequence in hominids.
In mammal LSU RNAs, these repeats constitute 45% of the massive expansion segments.
These repeats may help in anchoring of ribosomes and export of secretory proteins.
