Expressing CuZnSOD in the liver of Sod1−/− mice reduced oxidative damage in liver and prevented liver dysfunction and the expression several genes involved in liver tumorigenesis were altered.

Expressing CuZnSOD in the liver of Sod1−/− mice significantly increased the lifespan of the mice but had no effect on the accelerated sarcopenia phenotype of the Sod1−/− mice.
