Nano Au dispersed catalysts were investigated for partial oxidation of methanol. Au0/Au+ ratio is chiefly responsible for hydrogen production on Au/ZrO2 catalysts. Surface acidity may help hydrogen formation but promote secondary reactions at high temperature.
