fNIRS was used to evaluate PFC oxygenation differences due to MS while walking.
HbO2 levels were increased in persons with MS compared to controls while walking.
MS group had greater elevations in HbO2 levels during attention-demanding walking.
Persons with MS may be compensating for decreased efficiency by ramping up PFC activity.
