Scale-up and hydrodynamics of gas-solid spouted beds are investigated.
The common scale-up methodology for spouted beds is based on a set of dimensionless groups.
This methodology is evaluated in this study using advanced non-invasive Radioactive Particle Tracking (RPT) technique.
Two different sizes of spouted beds with matched and mismatched dimensionless groups were used.
The results illustrate that the above method is not adequate to achieve hydrodynamics similarity between the two beds.
