Schistosomal-derived lipids induce M2 polarization of macrophages. LPC is the main component within schistosomal lipid extract that triggers macrophage M2 polarization. Schistosomal-derived LPC induces PPARγ increased expression in macrophages. M2 polarization of macrophages triggered by schistosomal-derived LPC occurs through PPARγ dependent mechanism.
