V-Cr-Cu alloys are developed as a new type of hydrogen permeable metal membranes. The addition of Cr effectively modulates the hydrogen transport proprieties. The addition of Cu introduces the fcc-(Cu) that largely improves the ductility. The dual-phase structure ensures a favorable ductility and hydrogen permeability. A flux of ~34 cc H2 cm−2min−1 is derived for the rolled-annealed (V95Cr5)70Cu30.
