Deglaciation stages in Sierra Nevada (southern Spain) by applying 36Cl cosmogenic exposure dating to 28 samples.
Shortly before the Last Glacial Maximum, the glacier occupied the valleys, with transfluences between them until 19 ka.
The glaciers expanded again during the Oldest Dryas and refilled the valleys by the last time.
During the Younger Dryas small glaciers developed only in cirques shaped on east-facing slopes.
With the onset of the Holocene, rock glaciers developed inside the deglaciated cirques on some valleys.
