The impact of using densified (DSF) and slurried silica fume (SSF) is illustrated. SSF improves the pore structure and diffusion properties of pastes compared to DSF. Adding SSF increases the total porosity but refines pores and decreases diffusion. Diffusion coefficients increase linearly with w/b ratio for pastes with and without SF. A relationship was found between diffusion coefficients and critical pore radius.
