An improved LM method with simultaneous perturbation Jacobian approximation is built. The LM-SP method is verified by both numerical and radial displacement experiments. The LM-SP method can obtain better estimation results using less computational cost. The convergence of LM-SP can be speeded by averaging several Jacobian approximations. The LM-SP method is very suitable for large-scale nonlinear least squares problems.
