Zebrafish brains and retinas express the genes for GABA signaling. The GABA system depicts regional brain differences. The zebrafish GABA system shares similarities with that of mammals. Zebrafish, as mammals, splice the γ2 subunit of the GABAA receptor. The GABAA receptor α6a, α6b genes are tissue-specifically expressed.
